Top Chef alums and sibling rivals Bryan and Michael Voltaggio are celebrating the publication of their new cookbook, VOLT ink., by hosting a charity kickball game benefiting the Frederick Keys Care Fund with the Community Foundation of Frederick. The brothers take over Harry Grove Stadium on Tuesday, October 18 from 6-10 p.m to showcase what a press release calls “[their] take on ballpark food,” while the Maryland Ballers take on the Frederick Phantoms for the first-ever public exhibition game of Major League Kickball. The on-field stars may have a tough time persuading the crowd that kickball is anything more than an excuse to drink heavily, because Flying Dog and Brewer’s Alley will be on hand to provide constant libations.
To make the atmosphere even more festive, two bands — Blatant '80's and the Regal Beagles Yacht Rock Club Band — will provide a soundtrack to rival the screams of reality television fans. No word yet on whether the brothers will don jerseys to battle for boasting rights. Tickets are $8 (kids under 12 are free) and autographed copies of the cook will be available for $40. If you want to know what the party is going to be like, the Voltaggio brothers have helpfully made you a preview video.
