Your Firefighters Want Cookies and Cupcakes, Not Beer

A guy bought his local fire station a case of beer last week as a thank you for saving his house from burning down, which seems like a very nice thing to do. But do not ever do this. You see, firefighters are not supposed to drink beer when they're on duty and the discovery of beer in the station's fridge caused the department to shut it down temporarily. The always informative DC Fire and EMS Twitter feed was on it this morning, first telling citizens that while the gesture was appreciated, "alcohol is not permitted in our stations," then following up with some suggestions of what you can give your friendly firefighters: "Thanks comes in many forms-a smile, wave, pat on the back, cookies, cupcakes or fruit platter wiil do-DC F&EMS will always be there for you."
