Not even Tom Sietsema is immune from the frenzy surrounding Shophouse Southeast Asian Kitchen following its debut in Washington earlier this month. He gives it a try for his First Bite column this week, calling it "one of the best fast-food ideas in years." Though Sietsema thinks ShopHouse could use new bread for its banh mi, the critic finds that the "rice decked out with smoky beef, fiery red curry, fresh herbs and crispy garlic is wicked fun." [WaPo]
