FALLS CHURCH—Tonight 2941 launches a nomadic $42 three-course menu that will highlight the cuisine of a rotating list of countries. Chef Bertrand Chemel will kick it off with English cuisine (think: oatmeal stout short ribs stew and sticky toffee pudding), available Monday through Friday during dinner service. The rest of the lineup — which will switch every two weeks or so — include America (Sept. 19-30), Japan (Oct. 3-14), China ("by way of Hong Kong" Oct. 17-28), Russia (Oct. 31 - Nov. 11), India (Nov. 14 - 25) and ending on Egypt (Nov. 28 - Dec. 9). GAITHERSBURG—Nando's Peri-Peri opened its fifth Washington-area location last week in Gaithersburg, which is incidentally also the international chain's fifth US location. Maryland is getting another two Nando's locations within the year — Bethesda Row in October and the National Harbor in November. [EaterWire]
CLARENDON—Fittingly for some, EatBar has decided to mark the return to school with alcohol this year. Lots of it. Tonight, Left Hand Brewing Co. is pouring pints for $6.50 (a price which includes your glassware) while they talk about their brewing process. Then tomorrow at 6 p.m., Owen Roe Winery is up to give a talk and also pour some of their late summer wines. Finally, the big booze guns: A. Smith Bowman distillery will be in the house on Thursday offering tastings and bourbon cocktails. The restaurant is also going to be serving its new house-made sausages this week. [EaterWire]
CHINATOWN—There has been a fair amount of critical buzz about the sweet corn agnolotti at Graffiato since it opened in June, and today the restaurant warns you to jump on it quick. Graffiato is making some seasonal changes to its menu as of tomorrow, so tonight is your last chance to try (or indulge yet again in) those agnolotti. [Twitter]
LOGAN CIRCLE—If the first day back at work after a holiday was rough, it's probably time for a beer. As they often do, ChurchKey is hosting a beer event tonight, this time featuring Anders Kissmeyer's "gypsy brewing" talents. They'll have a bunch of rare brews available by the glass and 4 oz. tastings. [EaterWire]
