H Street's Deaf-Friendly Bars

h-street-country-club-150.jpgHere's something to read if you want to feel good about other people: The Washington Times talks to Atlas District bars and restaurants about their efforts to make drinking easier for their deaf patrons from the nearby Gallaudet University. Bartenders at the H Street Country Club have learned how to sign the basics and they purposely keep lights a little brighter for easier lip-reading. Queen Vic, Sticky Rice and the Rock N Roll Hotel all get credit, too — and we learn from the latter that the sign for Jagermeister looks like deer antlers. Of course. [WT]
