PENN QUARTER—Over the holidays, Poste opened a new "winter cocktail bar" out on its upper patio. The restaurant has set up a fire pit, space heaters and blankets to keep you warm, plus they've launched a new cocktail menu to go along with it that includes many a hot drink such as a Toddy, mulled wine and one called This Little Piggy made with bacon-infused Bulleit bourbon, spicy cayenne chocolate, milk, toasted marshmallow. There are also classic cocktails and cocktails with a twist. [EaterWire]

OBAMA ENDORSED—Still curious what it was that President Barack Obama ordered on his lunch trip to Scion last week? Well, obviously, it was a cheeseburger and fries because that's what he almost always orders on his lunch outings. Obama Foodorama dubs him, "President Obeef." [ObFo]

OPENING REPORT—Alexandria's Cheesetique recently opened its brand new Shirlington location and The Washingtonian gets inside for a look around. It's a much bigger space, which allows for more cheese and wine. Never a bad thing. [The Washingtonian]

CLARENDON—ARLnow reports that the latest local stop for Food Network show Heat Seekers was Tandoori Nights in Clarendon. [ARLnow]
