Now that the DC government has announced its new proposals to regulate food trucks in DC, the Washington Post takes a look at how these might affect food carts — up until now, primarily hot dog vendors set up downtown. One thing the new rules might bring, it seems, is a diversity of food cart options "such as Ethiopian platters, kebabs and noodle dishes, each almost as foreign among old-school carts as foie gras." There will also be stricter enforcement on how many umbrellas a cart can have, as well as a cap on downtown cart numbers. [WaPo]
