Cake Love Owner Warren Brown Closing the Love Café

Brace yourselves, cupcake-loving people. The City Paper's Chris Shott reports that the eight-year-old Love Café on U Street will be closing its doors at the end of this month. Owner Warren Brown tweeted the news last night and there's a notice on the bakery's website that January 29 will be its final day of serving cupcakes, sandwiches, coffee and more (all with WiFi availability).

The good news is that sister bakery CakeLove will remain open across the street and presumably also at its locations across the region, though Shott notes that it's no longer the celebrated cupcake bakery that it once was given the arrival of hot new things.
