AWARDS SEASON—This past weekend was the Great American Beer Festival in Denver and, lo and behold, some DC area breweries won some awards. The City Paper has all the intel on medal collections for the likes of DC Brau, Port City Brewing Company, Mad Fox, DuClaw Brewing Company and Virginia's Devil's Backbone Brewing Company "which walked away with a neck-bending eight medals and the best-in-show title for Small Brewpub and Small Brewpub Brewer of the Year." HOT CHOCOLATE WIRE—Oh boy, it's time again for hot chocolate menus. Pitango Gelato launches theirs today at all five area locations, offering six variations such as those that include whipped cream, a scoop of gelato affogato-style or "hot and spicy" with chili pepper. [EaterWire]
GLOVER PARK—Chef Emily Sprissler and sommelier Andrew Stover are teaming up for a four-course wine dinner tomorrow at Sprissler's Mayfair & Pine. Reservations are available for $68 for a fall dinner that a press release indicates is "all about highlighting American workers and the beautiful products they make right here for us in the USA!" Wines will also be available for purchase after the dinner. [EaterWire]
