Perennial 'Best Bathroom' Contender Mie N Yu Closes

In spite of frequently being cited as having one of the city — nay, America's — best restaurant bathrooms, the City Paper reports that Mie N Yu unexpectedly closed its doors last night on M Street. The restaurant has posted an explanation on its website, writing, "It's hard to believe we're closing our doors after almost 10 years on M Street. We've enjoyed sharing our unique food and beverage flavors with visitors near and far, and the whole Mie N Yu family has so greatly appreciated your support over the years. Thank you for dining with us, for welcoming us into your organizations, for spending a few extra moments with us at the bar. We'll certainly miss being a part of Georgetown's vibrant community."

As it's still early, there's no word yet what's to become of the prime M Street space or the unisex bathroom that has been a contender for best bathroom in America, as well as a nominee for DC's Best Restaurant Bathroom in last year's Eater Awards. Stay tuned.
