14TH STREET— Folks from The Raven Grill and Cafe Saint-Ex are teaming up to bring you Lyman's at 3720 14th St. NW. Pinball, a patio, live music and more are on the docket. The tavern will serve local beer and aim to open in winter 2013. [Best Bites Blog]
COLUMBIA HEIGHTS— Feel like drinking for a cause? Mark your calendar for Monday, when The Coupe will host a mix of local bartenders and guests from the East Coast to raise funds for DC Central Kitchen. Admission is $15 (includes a glass of punch), and drink tickets are $5. See J.P. Caceres, Juan Coronado plus reps from New York's Mihoko's 21 Grams, Boston's Death By Cocktails and Baltimore's B&O Brasserie. [EaterWire]
GEORGETOWN— Say this three times fast: Wisey's is suing WisEats for trademark infringement. A Georgetown takeout joint is suing a competitor over a similar name and logo. Both restaurants operate on WIsconsin Ave., both have a yellow-green oval logo, and both feature a similar tagline. Hmm. Neither party has commented publicly on the suit. [WCP]
TEXAS—Big Tex, patron saint of all things fried and 70-foot-tall mascot of the State Fair of Texas, caught fire this morning in what is believed to have been an electrical fire. Head over to Eater National to see the rather dramatic (and slightly terrifying?) blaze. [Eater National]
