DC-Made Gin Is Now on Sale; A Rammy Chicken Dinner

BOOZE NEWS—Booze from DC's "first legal distillery in more than a century" is now available in the form of Green Hat Gin from New Columbia Distillers, according to the City Paper. They began selling their first batch today for $36 per bottle, and will be open for sales weekdays from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. [WCP]

EVENT WIRE—A whole bunch of Rammy Award winners are getting together to throw a chicken dinner party at LivingSocial's 918 F Street space. Black Jack, Café Saint-Ex, Mitisitam Native Foods Cafe and Tune Inn are each creating chicken dishes for the dinner, while Estadio hits it with a cocktail and Adour takes care of the dessert. The dinner takes place October 22 at 6 p.m. and tickets are on sale now for $89. [LivingSocial]

PENN QUARTER—José Andrés' Zaytinya celebrates its tenth anniversary this month with a special chef's menu with dishes highlighting 10 Mediterranean cities and regions such as Santorini, Tripoli, and the Marmara region. There are also some historical references such as hummus of ancient Egypt and havuc koftesi of Constantinople (not Istanbul). The menu costs $65 per person with optional pairings for $30, available all month long. [EaterWire]
