It's been more than a year since My Husband Cooks Hospitality Group, LCC purchased the former Generous George's space in Alexandria (which shuttered in 2009). Despite delays, construction on the two restaurants that are replacing the Duke Street institution — Ginny's and The Esquire Dog — will start soon.
Kendle Bryan of My Husband Cooks said that the restaurant has undergone changes in architects, as well as permitting issues, all slowing down progress. But the plan for the site is the same. Esquire Dog will serve up high-end hot dogs, while Ginny's will be a "Virginia-centric Southern brasserie." Construction is expected to begin in the next month to 45 days, and Bryan says that means a late winter or early spring opening next year.
