1) Adams Morgan: The owner of Pho 14 at 1769 Columbia Rd. NW tells Prince of Petworth that construction is about "90 percent complete" and that the Vietnamese restaurant should get open by Nov. 1. There's a new awning already in place. [PLYWOOD]

2) South Riding: The second location of Loudoun County favorite Ford's Fish Shack is now at the hiring phase. The owner had been aiming for a December opening this summer. [PLYWOOD]

3) Woodley Park: PoP also peeks in the window at Lebanese Taverna, which is undergoing major renovations. The restaurant at 2641 Connecticut Ave. NW looks like it could open any day now, he said. [PRE-PLYWOOD]

4) Downtown: Tom Sietsema has an update on Newton's Noodles, the fast-casual concept coming from Bethesda chef Dennis Friedman. The restaurateur is now aiming for a May 1 opening for the space at 1129 20th St. NW. Construction begins in three weeks. [PRE-PLYWOOD]

5) Penn Quarter: PoP spots a liquor license application for the Red Apron Butchery at 709 D St. NW, indicating the meat shop will be serving up more than just sausage. An early 2013 opening is planned. [PRE-PLYWOOD]
