Those who have freaked out over the recent trend of restaurants charging for their bread need not worry about Leek American Bistro. Washingtonian takes a tour of the upcoming Ballston restaurant, and chef Nathan Spittal assures them that complimentary bread will be one of the features of the new American restaurant.
Spittal signed a lease back in May to open the restaurant at 801 N. Quincy Street in Arlington. The chef is a veteran of such restaurants as the Caucus Room and the former Nathan's in Georgetown. He's already figured out many of the restaurant's dishes, which will include Korean short ribs, tuna tartare, lobster rolls, shrimp and grits and other regional American favorites. There are also nods to his former stint running the BBQ Banditos food truck, with dishes like pulled pork biscuits. There will be a late night menu as well. Expect the restaurant to open sometime next week, though no firm date has been set.
