Signage Goes Up at Matchbox; Embers Grill Now Open

U STREET—The opening date for Matchbox's 14th Street outpost is approaching fast and DC Metrocentric spots the signage going up on the corner of the building. The restaurant is expected to open later this month or in early November — with a few characteristics to distinguish it from its sister restaurants. [DC Metrocentric]

OPENING REPORT—Prince of Petworth reports that Embers Grill has opened up near Georgetown Law School. There will be "lots of grill items," falafel and more. [PoP]

GIMMICKS—Friday is the made-up James Bond Day and a couple of DC restaurants are celebrating with themed parties and tasting menus. Bar Dupont is throwing an all-night with 007's favorite classic cocktails — no reservation necessary. Meanwhile, Plume at the Jefferson is offering a James Bond tasting menu on Friday and Saturday. For $130, diners get movie-themed dishes like the "Octopussy" of grilled octopus with cumin-scented eggplant caviar and coconut curry. [EaterWire]
