Salads for Merrifield: Sweetgreen to Open Fri. (Updated)

The salad chefs over at Sweetgreen were out in full force Saturday over in Merrifield's Mosaic District. In advance of their opening at the shopping center, which also includes such attractions as an upcoming Taylor Gourmet and restaurants from Jeff Black and R.J. Cooper, the restaurant was giving away free salads to shoppers walking by. The signage at the restaurant said the restaurant would open on Halloween.

It'll be close, anyway. A spokesman for the company says the plan (as of today) is to open Thursday, Nov. 1. Restaurants are opening at a bit of a slower pace than the shopping options over at Mosaic, which already has a Target, Angelika Film Center and boutique shops open. Taylor Gourmet, though, is on the schedule for November, too. Update: That rep is now saying Friday is the opening date.
