Satellite Room Opens Tonight, While Aroi Is Softly Open

1) Shaw: The Hilton brothers are opening the latest in their restaurant/nightlife empire tonight with the debut of Satellite Room, located just adjacent to the 9:30 Club. The Washingtonian describes it as a "1960s-style diner" serving "meatloaf, fried chicken, patty melts, and chicken-fried steak, and sides like mac and cheese and tater tots." There will also be four kinds of tacos and, of course, those adult milkshakes. The same designer behind sister restaurants American Ice Company and Brixton did the retro design for the Satellite Room. Status: Opens tonight. 2047 9th Street NW

2) Bloomingdale: Prince of Petworth reports that Aroi has finally opened its doors in Bloomingdale, offering Thai cuisine and sushi. While apparently they were open for takeout on Sunday, an employee at the restaurant tells Eater that they're open until 10 p.m. tonight, but are still in a training phase so the full menu is not yet available — such as no dessert yet. Status: Soft open. 1832 1st St NW; Facebook
