Would you contribute towards the $20,000 needed to help bring an ambitious modern American restaurant to Barrack's Row? The upcoming Rose's Luxury is the latest restaurant to use Kickstarter in an attempt to jumpstart its start-up costs. The new restaurant from Aldea and Momofuku Noodle Bar alumnus Aaron Silverman is seeking $20,000, and it's already raised more than $5k towards its goal.
The Kickstarter profile gives some additional clues to what customers might expect for the restaurant, which is bound for 717 8th St. SE. There will be 40 seats, an interior garden and a "cozy upstairs bar." Silverman describes his food as "American, modern, interesting, seasonal," and says that the menu could be 50-70 percent vegetarian at any one time. Young & Hungry previously reported the five section menu will cost $46 per person for the set price, a la carte menu, and some items will be able to be ordered separately at the bar. Those dollars raised by the Kickstarter campaign will go towards design and renovation costs, which means plants for the garden, towels for the bathroom and potentially a high-end ice machine for cocktails.
Silverman predicted a spring opening back in early October, and Prince of Petworth spotted a liquor license application for the place last week.
