Arlington Thai restaurant Burapa Thai has closed after about a year and a half of operating in Clarendon. ARLNOW has the story from owner Prat Uthes.

"The reason is [the] tough economy and I can not compete with this location," she told ARLnow.com. "Too many restaurants in the area and rent is too high." Still, Uthes said closing was a tough decision. "I am so sad to leave this area," she said. "I love all customers."

The restaurant served its last diners Tuesday evening, and was located at 1210 N. Garfield St. No word yet on what will take its place. Meanwhile, it's not the end of the restaurant business for Uthes. She still runs Burapa Thai Classic in Landsdowne and is scouting spots in Haymarket for another place.
