Adam Howard of Family Meal to Cook at Room 11

New, 2 comments

Adam Howard, the opening chef de cuisine at Frederick-based Family Meal, has a new gig. The chef is now going to be cooking at Room 11. Howard replaces former chef Ben Gilligan, who stepped down in September to consider some new projects (after becoming a dad). Room 11 general manager Jessica Woods confirmed Howard's new role this weekend.

Howard comes to Room 11 just as the restaurant is gearing up for a major expansion. The upcoming changes, which are still in progress, will include additional seating for the tiny restaurant and a second bar.

Howard made a name for himself at Family Meal with Southern-inspired dishes with a contemporary twist — crispy frog legs, chicken pot pie fritters. The menu was also the brainchild of Top Chef alumnus Bryan Voltaggio, who oversees the restaurant. The diner-style restaurant earned 2 stars from Tom Sietsema, who was particularly enamored of its fried chicken.
