Mediterranean (ish) cuisine. No online reservations, OpenTable or otherwise. Lots of olive oil. These are some of the details Washingtonian has on Wildwood Kitchen, Robert Wiedmaier's latest restaurant, which is opening in Bethesda.
The restaurant will seat 55 people, and while Wiedmaier is shying away from the "Mediterranean" label, the menu items are definitely influenced by that style of cuisine. A November 17 opening is planned for Wildwood, which will serve such dishes as grilled sardines or scallops with fennel confit. The menu will be small — eight appetizers, eight entrees — and the bar will seat 15 people.
Wiedmaier also confirms that he is, in fact working on a second Mussel Bar for Ballston, though an exact location isn't revealed.
