From front of the house, to back, and to front again. Bourbon Steak's James Horn, who headed to the restaurant kitchen this summer after serving as general manager of Bandolero, has a new gig. He will be the general manager at Daikaya, the izakaya and noodle shop coming to Penn Quarter. A Bourbon Steak rep said Horn has already left his position, and Daikaya's Daisuke Utagawa confirmed the new gig Wednesday.
No word yet on why Horn decided to make the switch so quickly, but he has spent time both in management and kitchen-related positions. Horn (who is quite skilled at mastering the porron at Estadio, as BYT discovered), is a fourth-generation restaurant guy, and opened Graffiato as well. Daikaya is one of fall's most anticipated openings, and was last on track to debut in late November.
