The Passenger Team to Open Island-Themed Hogo

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

The Passenger posse's takeover of the block across from the Convention Center continues. Young & Hungry has it that Tom Brown, along with business parter Paul Ruppert, are planning an island-themed concept called Hogo at 1017 7th St. NW. The team hesitates to call it a tiki bar, but it's clear you'll be able to find that style of drink at the restaurant.

Expect an opening in about a week, with 30-40 varieties of rum, and a sort of test-kitchen style of menu, with rotating chefs. Ed Witt has signed on early in the process to prepare diner food, and also expect a turn from Yuji Haraguchi of Yuji Ramen in New York. But at first, the Passenger's Javier Duran will make Hawaiian diner food at Hogo, including his spin on the Hawaii favorite "loco moco". The decor sounds pretty wild, with a Zombie Elvis rendering and a graffiti mural of Hawaii gods.
