Iron Gate Now Shooting for a March Opening

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

Here's some information gleaned while preparing Eater's Anticipated Winter Openings list: Iron Gate Inn will not be opening in January as originally hoped.

The Neighborhood Restaurant Group project is now looking at an early spring opening. From the restaurant's spokeswoman.

We are looking at a March opening for Iron Gate. We are experiencing some construction delays, which was to be expected when working with such a historic space. Chef Tony Chittum, who is still manning the kitchen at Vermilion through the holidays and this winter, is extremely excited to return to downtown and is currently working on dishes for an early spring menu that will be enjoyed under the wisteria covered terrace and in the former carriage house.

That means there's still a chance to experience Chittum's cooking at Vermillion (take note, Valentine's Day reservation-makers). Neighborhood Restaurant Group announced it would take over the former Iron Gate space last May. The original restaurant of the same name, known for its romantic atmosphere, closed in 2010.
