New York chef Michael White announced today his very first expansion to Washington, DC, bringing his rustic Italian restaurant Osteria Morini from Soho to The Yards — a huge get for the development on the Capitol Riverfront that has already gotten a lot of buzz from the Neighborhood Restaurant Group's move to open a brewery and a restaurant in the Boilermaker Shops area.
Located in the development's Lumber Shed component, a press release notes Osteria Morini will have both river and park views, plus outdoor seating when it opens in summer 2013. White currently owns six New York restaurants — including Marea and Ai Fiori — plus one in Hong Kong. He also recently announced plans to expand Osteria Morini to the great state of New Jersey. Expect a menu of moderately priced Italian fare, with an emphasis on pastas and roasted and grilled meats.
