Tim Carman takes over First Bite duties this week with a slam of Clarendon's newly reinvented Market Tavern. Not only would he prefer any member of the Ray's the Steaks empire "nine times out of 10" to Market Tavern, but Carman also ticks a litany of sins including mushy paella, an overcooked burger and lobster spring rolls that "arrived shimmering with grease and studded with the tiniest nubbin of overcooked crustacean. Lobster was the last thing on my mind as I chomped on these vaguely Asian rolls." [WaPo]
