SHAW—Dining Bisnow reports that 42° Catering chef/owner Frederik de Pue has signed a lease for a space in Shaw that will house a restaurant by the name of Table. The chef plans to serve three meals a day, seven days a week, with beer and wine but no hard liquor. There will also be a roof deck and apparently the goal is for a summer opening. [DBN]
FOOD TV—This Sunday evening, our own Toki Underground will be appearing in an episode of the Cooking Channel's Unique Eats focusing on all that is "dirt cheap and delicious." Sounds about right. So do go ahead and set those DVRs for 10 p.m. EST. [EaterWire]
BOOZE NEWS—The Washingtonian hears that The Passenger has recently installed a tap of Fernet Branca, which is quite likely the first of its kind in the Washington area. [The Washingtonian]
U STREET—The City Paper learns that Carole Greenwood is in the planning stages of a new restaurant in the U Street Corridor to be named Shelter. It'll serve comfort food, run late night and, according to Greenwood, "it’s not going to be for families and it’s not going to be for, you know, the hoi polli of foodies." [WCP]
