In the latest issue of the Washingtonian, Todd Kliman has a very long and very interesting piece on what it is to be both a food critic and a father — two roles he calls "incompatible, like pairing foie gras with ice cream." In the piece, Kliman reflects on not-so-child-friendly service experiences, the time his son almost outed him as a food critic and the horror of realizing your child thinks McDonald's is delicious.
