PENN QUARTER—Now that Elisir is getting settled, it's time to launch the Italian cooking classes that chef Enzo Fargione has been planning long before the restaurant opened. They've scheduled the very first class for February 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the subject will be Tuscan Secrets and Country Cooking. Reservations are $129 per person and include a five-course lunch and wine. Snag 'em by calling 202-546-0088. [EaterWire]
PENN QUARTER—Disney on Ice is coming to the Verizon Center next week and to drum up some publicity (and some cash flow for the DC Central Kitchen), they're pairing up with a bunch of Penn Quarter restaurants. As of yesterday, Graffiato, Fiola, Meatballs, Rosa Mexicano and Ping Pong Dim Sum are all offering special Disney-inspired dishes to be judged at a reception on the show's opening night, February 15. OPENING REPORT—In the fast-casual opening news wire, Prince of Petworth reports that a new Freshii location has opened on E Street in the old Gifford's space and that Z-Burger has opened in the Southwest Waterfront near Station 4. [PoP]
