News broke yesterday that Baltimore-based Dangerously Delicious Pies would be opening its second DC location in Penn Quarter later this year. As promised, Eater reached out to owner Sandra Basanti via email for a little more information on the move, which she says was really just about a desire for a storefront in Northwest: "We figured it's a great daytime location with lots of foot traffic from tourists to shoppers to folks who work in the area as well as very metro accessible where as Hst is much more of a fun night out destination location for many still."
So that's a no-brainer. And what will the new space be like? Basanti writes:
"The space is small but we will be keeping the pie and rock n roll vibe. We will also have a similar 'Pie bar' set up for seating as well as outdoor seating during nicer weather. We plan on incorporating acoustic musicians as well as featuring other types of artists here as we do on Hst."
As the developers announced yesterday, Dangerously Delicious Pies is indeed shooting for an April opening — which Basanti points out is around the same time as the two-year anniversary of the H Street shop.
