Sad news to report this week in that restaurateur Gerard Pain passed away on Wednesday at his home in Charlottesville at age 73. Pain opened Georgetown staple La Chaumiere back in 1976 — a restaurant which has seen diners from Julia Child to the Dalai Lama. The Post's Tim Carman writes a nice remembrance of the man whose restaurant was subject of the review that earned Carman his last gig at the City Paper. [WaPo]
