Well, apparently Luke's Lobster had a good first year in DC. Less than a year after arriving in Penn Quarter, the New York-based lobster roll restaurant sends word that it plans to open a second location in Bethesda this summer. It'll be situated in a corner space right next door to Redwood in Bethesda Row — the old Cacao space. The new spot will likely be pretty similar to the existing Penn Quarter location and those in New York with a menu of lobster, shrimp and crab rolls, plus chowder and crab claws. This one will also have a 20-seat outdoor café.
A press release notes that Sweetgreen and Georgetown Cupcake are both just around the corner and that the Luke's Lobster team picked this spot for expansion because "no contingent has clamored louder for fresh Maine lobster than Bethesda." Also within striking distance? New England-style lobster spot Freddy's Lobster + Clams.
