Here's a Detailed Food Lineup For the Sweetlife Festival

A couple weeks back, Sweetgreen announced the major musical acts that would be playing in the upcoming Sweetlife Festival, offering only a few tantalizing details about a "Food Forest" featuring the likes of Shake Shack and Pepe. Now, finally, they've revealed more about the food component of the festival. Ready? Well there's New York's Momofuku Milk Bar and Roberta's Pizza. Also Toki Underground. Baked + Wired. Luke's Lobster. Buzzy local picklers Gordy's Pickle Jar. And more.

While some restaurants will be setting up shop in the Food Forest, others will be offering concessions throughout Merriweather Post Pavilion. As previously mentioned, there will be a VIP tent with RJ Cooper, Rappahannock Oyster Bar and Dolcezza, among other things.

Oh right, and they've also announced the musical acts performing on the second stage: Delta Spirit, Twin Shadow, Zola Jesus, The Knocks, RAC, U.S. Royalty, Yuna, Haim, LP, Ben Browning (of Cut Copy) and BLUEBRAIN. WASHINGTON, D.C., March 21, 2012 – While blockbuster and Grammy-winning electronic, hip hop and indie acts will top the bill at the 2012 Sweetlife Food & Music Festival Main Stage, the creators of sustainable eatery sweetgreen announced today the line-up of the second stage, a.k.a. The Treehouse. Sweetlife also announced a second component to the festival: a food extravaganza featuring top regional and national food chefs and vendors.

This is the first year Sweetlife Festival http://www.sweetlifefestival.com/ is expanding to two stages, more than doubling the number of bands playing the April 28th festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion http://www.merriweathermusic.com/ in Columbia, Md. The Treehouse will feature emerging acts, many coming off the SXSW buzz, others who are just gaining notice among industry insiders; all are bands sweetgreen is excited to introduce to the crowd at Merriweather. The Treehouse line-up includes: Delta Spirit, Twin Shadow, Zola Jesus, The Knocks, RAC, U.S. Royalty, Yuna, Haim, LP, Ben Browning (of Cut Copy) and BLUEBRAIN.

The Main Stage line-up will feature Avicii, Kid Cudi, The Shins, Explosions in the Sky, Fitz and the Tantrums, A$AP Rocky and fun.

“Some of my greatest memories growing up were going to festivals and getting turned on to new bands I’d never heard of before,” said Jonathan Neman, co-founder of sweetgreen and the Sweetlife Food & Music Festival. “That’s an important part of the experience. With The Treehouse, we want to introduce people to some of our favorite emerging acts, and give them a taste for amazing new flavors of music worth discovering.”

Yes, Shakespeare wrote, “If music is the food of the gods, play on.” But if he came to the Sweetlife Festival, he might paraphrase it “If food was the music of the gods, eat on.”

Sweetlife is expanding this year into a food festival with the addition of the sweetgreen & Serious Eats Food Forest, which will be populated with sweetgreen’s favorite chefs, food trucks and farms including José Andrés, Toki Underground, Shake Shack and Smucker Farms. There will also be specially added food and beverage delicacies at Merriweather’s concession stands throughout the festival grounds. VIP ticket holders will have access to a slew of distinctive offerings, including treats from Chef RJ Cooper, Rappahannock Oyster Bar and Dolcezza.

“Sweetlife is a celebration of living your best life and food is a big part of that,” said sweetgreen and Sweetlife Festival co-founder Nicolas Jammet. “Being healthy shouldn't have to stop at a music festival. We want to reinvent the idea of festival food by bringing together our favorite chefs, farmers and food brands to build local and organic food concessions. We're excited to bring top national talent in food and music together.”
