Ripple's brand new gourmet market Sugar Magnolia opens today in the cozy storefront space on Connecticut Avenue adjoining the restaurant. And though the space may be small, it's got plenty of personality with a Tiffany blue color scheme, pig statuettes and light fixtures channeling beaters.
The market will offer a rotating menu of sandwiches, patés, salads, baked goods and their specialty — ice cream sandwiches, all house-made by pastry chef Alison Reed who joined chef Logan Cox at Ripple earlier this year. Reed's got about six different flavors of ice cream sandwiches planned out including, yes, one on a waffle with maple bacon ice cream.
