Boundary Road opened a mere 3.5 weeks ago on H Street NE and not only has the early word from the neighborhood been mostly positive, but the restaurant has just gotten the Obama endorsement. Reports trickled in yesterday evening that the presidential motorcade was tying up traffic on H Street — pretty much between 4th Street NE and the White House, according to one tipster. And, indeed, confirmation came swiftly that President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were dining at Boundary Road with the winners of their recurring "Dinner With Barack" contest — previously POTUS alone took supporters to Liberty Tavern and Scion.
Boundary Road hasn't yet replied to inquiries — restaurants are usually asked to keep quiet about presidential visits — but they did announce they were closed until 8 p.m. last night and then retweeted the above instagram photo from Barack Obama's official Twitter account. But, of course, the pick is totally trendy and totally fitting with that whole "supporting small businesses" thing as, beyond being an independent restaurant itself, Boundary Road also has put an emphasis on supporting local artists and businesses. Anyway, not too shabby for a restaurant's first month in business.
