Congrats due out today to chef José Andrés, who has been named to the 2012 Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world for all of his advocacy and charity work. Friend and fellow outsized food personality Anthony Bourdain sums it up in the tribute:
"That this gift of Spain to the U.S. is best known as a great chef with a portfolio of extraordinary restaurants in Washington, Los Angeles and Las Vegas is almost beside the point. He's bigger and more important than that. No one kitchen — or 10 — can contain him. He is advocate, promoter, entrepreneur, philanthropist, artist. Keep up with him at your peril."
To celebrate, the Spanish chef announced this morning that the 100th meal served out of his new food truck Pepe today is on him. So waiting in that line might just pay off. Meanwhile, Eater National reports that Danish chef René Redzepi also made the list with a tribute from another of Andrés' friends, Ferran Adrià.
