The drumbeat toward this year's Rammy Awards gala continues with the announcement last night that former Mayor Anthony Williams is the recipient of this year's Duke Zeibert Capital Achievement Award. The award honors "a member of the community whose dedication and leadership have contributed to the success of Washington's vibrant restaurant industry." José Andrés won the award last year.
So why the former mayor? Well, per a release, during his two terms as mayor, Williams "laid the ground work for the economic vitality that we have in Washington today while understanding that restaurants were to play a major part in the resurgence of the region." The rest of the Rammy Awards will be doled out at the gala on June 24.
