Local chefs and restaurants were shut out earlier this week at the James Beard Awards, which naturally begs the question, does the James Beard Foundation hate DC? Meshelle Armstrong, wife of multi-year-snubbed Cathal Armstrong, insists to The Washingtonian that it just wasn't DC's year: "Then there's the snarkier side of me, which leaves me scratching my head when President of the United Sates honors a James Beard nominee as a Champion of Change—Americans who do extraordinary things in their community—but my very own beloved industry still can't pronounce his name correctly."
