Anthony Chittum to Reopen Dupont Circle's Iron Gate Inn

New, 1 comment

Remember the mysterious project that the Neighborhood Restaurant Group has been planning for Dupont Circle, the details for which were sketchy aside from the fact that it would serve breakfast? Well, Tom Sietsema reveals today that the project is actually a reopening of the Iron Gate Inn under the leadership of Vermilion's Anthony Chittum. Yes, in a big win for DC and loss for Northern Virginia, Chittum is leaving the Old Town Alexandria restaurant and heading back to DC to be a co-owner of the Iron Gate Inn alongside his current employer. A rep confirms to Eater that this is the same project that the group has been hinting at for some time now.

Iron Gate Inn closed in 2010 after an impressive 87 years in business, and Chittum tells Sietsema he plans to keep the name and much of what made Iron Gate Inn what it was. The reopened restaurant will have a Greek and Italian-inspired menu and could open in as soon as six months from now.
