Filter Coffeehouse quietly opened its Foggy Bottom location earlier this week with the same great coffee that has made it so popular over in Dupont Circle, announcing their presence to the neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon and finally getting the credit card system up and rolling by yesterday afternoon. So coffee for one and all! In particular that flat white coffee that has won them a following among those who appreciate the Australian-style beverage.
That said, it's important to note some key changes between this location and the original. As has been previously noted there will not be any WiFi available in this location. But owner Rasheed Jabr tells the City Paper today that he's just outright banning laptops — a practice not too uncommon elsewhere but the City Paper notes it would be a first for DC. And how exactly is the ban going to be enforced? Says Jabr, "We're going to put some up nice little polite signs that say 'Please leave your laptops in your bags. This coffee shop is for socializing and conversation.'" Got that squatters?
