The guys behind Cava and its fast-casual spin-off Cava Grill announce the opening tonight of their latest concept — an Italian-inspired small plates restaurant Sugo Cicchetti. Rather than the Greek fare at the Cava restaurants, chef Dimitri Moshovitis is putting out pastas, charcuterie, meatball dishes and pizza. There are also sliders and both hot and cold small plates such as marinated white anchovies, pan-seared octopus and a 30-hour short rib.

The Washingtonian gets an early look inside and explains that there is charcuterie named Baby Jesus and cotton candy in the cocktails. And our friends at Curbed DC also got a look inside, discovering that the pizza oven was built by hand by one of the owners. Sugo opens at 5 p.m. Here's the opening menu, subject to change, of course.
