If you thought your mind couldn't be blown any wider than it is at the thought of someone just dropping 70 tons of sand in a parking lot in the middle of the city and boom! there's a beach, well, hang on a second there. We haven't even gotten to the food yet. And now it's confirmed that the New York Avenue Beach Bar is not only going to be home to sand, slushees and swimsuits — it will also be home to the much-anticipated Sundevich food truck and its glorious sandwiches.
Yes, that is the Sundevich truck in the photo above, as tweeted by the owners of the Beach Bar yesterday, who long ago mentioned plans to bring in food trucks to provide sustenance for beach-goers. Sundevich owner Ali Bagheri confirms to Eater via email that it's true indeed and that he plans to offer some of the shop's regular menu of sandwiches on mini rolls, plus peel-and-eat shrimp, Mexican-style corn and a few of the shop's side dishes. He adds that he'll be on the truck this weekend and the truck will be parked at the Beach Bar all summer. No word yet on a Twitter handle, but we'll update here when that's available. And don't forget — the New York Avenue Beach Bar opens tonight at 5 p.m.
