Bryan Voltaggio's Diner; Chicken Fried Steak Showdown

FREDERICK—Well, lookie here, Bryan Voltaggio's forthcoming diner Family Meal now has a pretty website announcing its new projection for a summer 2012 opening. They're also hiring, with an open house going down at Volt on May 15 and 22. [EaterWire]

LOGAN CIRCLE—This Sunday morning, Pearl Dive Oyster Palace is teaming up with radio program Foodie and the Beast for a Chicken Fried Steak Showdown featuring chefs Scott Drewno, Victor Albisu, Kyle Bailey and Adam Sobel and, of course, Pearl Dive's own Jeff Black, each creating his own perfect version of chicken fried steak. Food from the restaurant's brunch menu will be included in the $35 ticket price — proceeds from which will go to building a kitchen at the Washington Nationals Diabetes Care Complex at Children’s National Medical Center.
