Jeff Black Gets His Own Oysters; Weekend Tasting Fests

OYSTER WIRE—Like Jamie Leeds before him, the Post reports that restaurateur Jeff Black is developing his very own oysters, to be named the Black Pearl and Old Black Salts. Both will be briny and available at Black's restaurants, including Pearl Dive Oyster Palace, BlackSalt and Black's Bar & Kitchen. [WaPo]

GEORGETOWN—Assuming we're not all carried away in tonight's storm, the Taste of Georgetown gets underway tomorrow from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. with bites from 30 of the neighborhood's restaurants. These included Baked & Wired, Clyde's, Martin's Tavern and more, with dishes judged by a panel of local food people such as Bandolero's Mike Isabella. [EaterWire]

DEL RAY—Meanwhile out in Alexandria, the Taste of Del Ray is going down on Sunday with an appearance from former Hell's Kitchen winner and local Rock Harper — apparently abiding by some unspoken law that weekend tasting festivals ought to feature a chef who was once on a reality TV show. Participating restaurants include Cheestique, Del Ray Pizzeria, Evening Star Cafe, Pork Barrel BBQ and Taqueria Poblano and lasts from 1-3 p.m. [EaterWire]
