DGS Delicatessen Promises Buildout Won't Take 40 Years

It's almost been six months since DGS Delicatessen first announced that they were bringing a Jewish deli to Dupont Circle, and now they swear they're really coming soon with this signage that just papered over the storefront yesterday. As the front window reads: "For 40 years the Jews wandered the desert. We promise it won't take that long." And lest you think it's all jokes here, the front door explains: "All about the food. Leave the kitsch behind. (Except on the front window)."

In all seriousness, Nick Wiseman, a partner in the project with former Tallula chef Barry Koslow, tells Eater that DGS now has its building permit in hand and is "shooting hard" for a September opening.
