Competitive Taco Eating; Hitching Post Switches Hands

COMPETITIVE EATING—WTOP has the tale of a man who ate 15 tacos in 15 minutes in the latest edition of District Taco's taco challenge. Apparently it's the breakfast taco with its "heavy mix of eggs, cheese, chorizo and potatoes" that really screws the contestants over — and, great news, anyone can do this challenge at any time so start preparing. PETWORTH—Prince of Petworth brings word that the Hitching Post has been sold from one really nice family to another really nice family and will close on July 31 only to reopen under the same name and fried chicken on August 7. The new owners also own Fusion and will launch a brunch and happy hour in the space. [PoP]

ALEXANDRIA—Not even a year after opening up a Georgetown shop, Fleurir Hand Grown Chocolates are heading out to Alexandria next, per the Washingtonian. They found a space on Jefferson Street in Old Town and plan to put in a storefront plus perhaps some chocolate-making classes. [Washingtonian]
