EatBar's Beach Bash; New York's 16 Handles Eyes DC

CLARENDON—Saturday afternoon is the return of EatBar's annual Beach Bash, which pairs summer wines with "boardwalk-inspired" dishes such as conch fritters, fish tacos and malt vinegar fries. Their cousins over at Red Apron are bringing Frank the hot dog cart and there will be beach music to set the mood. Tickets are $25, and the beach bash gets underway at noon. [EaterWire]

FIRST WORD—New York self-serve froyo chain 16 Handles confirms to a local food blogger that they're eying a move to DC, but apparently don't have a location nailed down yet. [Twitter]

DUPONT CIRCLE—The Post reports that Shaw's pop-up bakery Blind Dog Cafe has now popped up as well on the patio at Science Club. They're serving coffee, tea and pastries out on the patio on weekday mornings for the next few weeks from 7-11 a.m. [WaPo]
