Is Birch & Barley the Manliest Restaurant in America?

Hooray, it's time for Men's Health magazine's Manliest Restaurants in America competition, a time to separate the men from the not-men, or something. Nominated this year in the Best Brew Pubs category is DC's very own Birch & Barley, which as you can see is apparently celebrating by making chef Kyle Bailey wear a manly hardhat in the kitchen from now on.

Birch & Barley garnered the nomination in part for its 555 varieties of beer and, of course, thanks to "the hopheads in the kitchen" who manage to make bread, mustard and sauerkraut with beer. Also, "Birch & Barley is all about food without fuss, so you can enjoy a top-notch meal without the heaping side of snobbery."

Voting is underway right now and continues through July 31 in the competition which debuted last year with a nomination for Ben's Chili Bowl — though the iconic restaurant did not make the final cut. Should Birch & Barley be selected as a finalist in the brewpub category, however, it will go on to compete for the title of the Manliest Restaurant in America. Don't let a Philly restaurant named The Dandelion win.
