1) Union Station: Though its opening was initially slated for tomorrow, Roti is officially open in Union Station as of this morning. As usual, the chain is serving up its fast-casual and customizable Mediterranean menu that includes pita sandwiches, wraps, salads and plates filled with their signature chicken, steak, falafel, vegetables and more. Status: Certified open. 50 Massachusetts Avenue, NE; website
2) U Street: Last month came word that popular Arlington taco truck Tacos El Chilango was opening its first brick-and-mortar near U Street and, lo-and-behold, it has arrived in soft-opening form. Per Urban Daddy, the tacos here are cheap and include varieties such as "Al Pastor (with pineapple and onions); beef tongue; Oaxacan cheese and guacamole; and the house specialty Mixto (chicken with pork sausage)." While the grand opening is not until next week, an employee who answered the phone at the restaurant confirms that they're open to the public now but with limited hours. Status: Soft open. 1119 V Street NW; 202-986-3030.
